What is Camp GLOW?

Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World), is a female leadership camp designed based on the idea that educating and empowering young women positively contributes to the overall development of a nation.

The first Camp GLOW was implemented in 1994 in Romania by Peace Corps Volunteers and has since spread around the world.

Camp GLOW Grenada

In 2012, Grenada became the first Eastern Caribbean (EC) Island to host Camp GLOW.  Former Co-Directors, Katie Moran and Jacqueleen Zamora, saw the need to host a camp where young girls could participate in activities that would empower them to be great leaders in their communities.  Since its’ first year was so successful, Camp GLOW now happens every summer.

Each year Camp GLOW recruits 40 secondary school girls, as well as girls with special needs from Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique to attend a free leadership retreat.  These young women devote a week to understanding the components of personal development, public speaking, post-secondary school career and education opportunities, healthy relationships, and community leadership.

The camp also offers these young women the opportunity to participate in a variety of team games, sports, art, dancing, and singing; all with newly made friends.
